Sweet Potato Spuds with Bangers and Vegetables
Ingredients
Preparation
Lincolnshire pork bangers are named after a North Eastern county in the East Midlands of England. These sausages contain a special type of pork meat that is carefully mixed with other ingredients. Traditionally stale bread is used in these sausages. However, these days fresh bread is commonly used. Among other spices, this type of sausage is seasoned with sage, pepper, and salt.

First things first- if you’re in the southern US and you expect these to be like a brat or breakfast sausage, hold on, because it’s not like either. These area very tasty and have a taste of their own, which is similar to homemade sausage on a farm with no preservatives. That’s the best way to describe them. The meat has been ground fineand not chunky. The seasoning is very light and not salty like most southern sausages. If you like a lot of spicy flavor (salt, smoke, spice, etc.) then you might consider smoking these next time you have ribs or a butt cooking. I can see where these would be great with eggs in the morning. First time trying bangers and these were great. Used electric grill at 385-400 for 25minutes and keep’em rolling. Delicious! Thanks Harold Wood’s!!!
We received our shipment yesterday. It was well packed in a styrofoam cooler with dry ice. It got to us quickly and was all very frozen as expected. I was born and raised in Lincolnshire but now live in the US.
We cooked them for dinner tonight along with some bacon that we also ordered and a few other things. They were the worst tasting Lincolnshire sausages I have ever had. They had a bad texture, kind of paste like. They were also very soft when fully cooked. No chew to it whatsoever. Every Lincolnshire sausage I have ever had before had a good firm texture where you can see small chunks of the ground meat. This was like pink mush inside. The texture did not change after cooking and was very offputting. The flavour was also not good. In fact, it didn't really taste like much at all. There was a hint of sage and not much else. I am writing this review 30 minutes after eating them and my mouth feels like it is coated with grease. Not good.
After 26 years in the US, I am still on the hunt for a good Lincolnshire sausage to remind me of my home county. These sausages are not them. I will not be ordering them again.
These sausages capture the classic British flavor of Lincolnshire sausages. They're savory and satisfying. The packaging is functional, and they provide good value.
Harold Wood's Lincolnshire Pork Bangers are both tasty and affordable. They're a great addition to any meal, and the packaging is practical. They're budget-friendly.
