A Royal British Christmas Tradition Since 1847
Tom Smith invented the Christmas cracker in 1847, inspired by French bonbons and a desire to add festive flair to holiday celebrations. He created the signature “snap” and began including small gifts and paper hats, starting a tradition that quickly became a Christmas staple across Britain.
Tom Smith crackers have held Royal Warrants since 1906, including from Queen Elizabeth II and, most recently, from His Majesty King Charles III — a mark of distinction and quality that honours their place in British holiday tradition.
