Remember the ‘Wispa’? It is one of the most loved chocolate bars from Cadbury in Britain. People were so fond of this chocolate that when it was discontinued, people came together to vote for it in great numbers. Today, Wispa is available in so many interesting flavours and continues to delight the taste buds of not just the British but people from across the world too.
History of Wispa Candy Bar
Wispa Candy Bar is a product of Cadbury, a British chocolate company. It is an aerated bar that was launched in 1981 to check whether or not people would like the bar. Once the bar became nationally famous, it was launched officially in 1983. Back then, it gave strong competition to a chocolate known as Aero from Rowantree (now Nestle).
In 2003, Cadbury Dairy Milk launched a campaign to relaunch their brand. It was during this time that Wispa was discontinued, and Dairy Milk Bubbly was introduced – a similar chocolate, and only it didn't look like a bar; instead, it resembled a regular slab of chocolate with small squares.
Not that Bubbly was a bad chocolate, but people missed Wispa, and in 2007, an internet campaign was launched by many enthusiasts who demanded that Wispa be brought back to the market. The company relaunched Wispa in the same year, but it was only for a limited period. However, in 2008, Cadbury launched Wispa permanently, and shops in the UK and Ireland once again began selling this delicious chocolate. Cadbury made sure that Wispa got a grand re-entry into the market. They advertised it in large outdoor posters that read – "It's back. Apparently." The small roadside posters, too, had a unique tagline that read, "Apparently, the Wispa thing is true. It's coming back. Finally. Brilliant."
How Does a Wispa Candy Bar Taste?
Wispa is an aerated chocolate that is very light and has a crumbly and velvety texture. The many air bubbles in the chocolate give it this unique feel. Cadbury is known for using good-quality chocolate. Hence, Wispa, like the other Cadbury chocolates, has a rich and smooth taste. When you bite into the candy bar, it crumbles in your mouth, and when it begins to melt, it gives a luxurious and creamy taste.
